The backwaters of Kerala has been an attraction to a lot of foreign tourists looking for a quiet corner & good food in a country whose population is breaking her seams. Alleppey or Alappuzha is also known as the Venice of the East because of its beautiful water bodies and great culture. Living in a houseboat in Alleppey is a captivating experience. Originating in Thrikkariyoor in Ernakulam, Kerala, Theeyattu is a ritualistic fire dance symbolizing the killing of the demon Darika by Bhadrakali, thus defeating evil & protecting the people from the dark forces. This fire dance is also known as Deepattom & Theeyattom & done in celebration of Ayyappan & Bhadrakali.
