Education & Mentorship

Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation Tribal Education Chhattisgarh

Education for Tribal Students

Making education accessible, simple and fun for children.

Inaccessibility to proper educational facilities, lack of teachers & poor techniques of teaching have affected education of children and the young adults.

Although there are numerous government aids, unabated corruption and complex, long drawn procedures, rarely get the legitimate help over to the needy children or their families.

Provide modern tools & gadgets to make early learning fun, entertaining and wholesome for children.

It is critical to encourage children & young adults to re-learn the art of reading & helping them decide on their choice of books. Adding to the complexity are the tensions caused due to the tribal community’s perspective on modern education, both the curriculum as well as it’s methodologies.

Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation is focused on the education for tribal children, tribal women and the young adults.

Ranging from small class room based teaching, they are expanding their curriculum to include studies on Indian heritage & cultures along with the mainstream curriculum.

Encouraging & satisfying the immense curiosity in students increases their stickiness to education, technology and build a desire to grow in life.

With financial assistance from private donors, young students are provided with access to technical educational tools, reduce the teacher to student ratio & also mentor teachers to adopt modern methods of teaching, remote learning processes and e-learning.

Sponsoring & Mentoring

Counseling & career guidance for talented tribal students

Constant guidance & mentoring of tribal students is a critical success factor to counter social & economic pressures

With financial assistance from private donors, selected, talented tribal school & under graduate students are offered financial assistance to complete their main stream high school education.

Qualified students are provided with scholarships to improve their attendance in schools & colleges and successful professionals contribute their personal time to provide continuous mentoring & coaching.

Prevalent socio-economic situations of tribal communities in India are stumbling blocks to tribal youths in their efforts to continue their school education. The lure of labor jobs, early marriages, sick elderly family members, lack of decent livelihood often force talented youth to leave school for labor jobs.

Added to this are decades of mis-information, exploitation by the business communities & corruption in governmental administration are too big hurdles and risky for the isolated tribal youths to take on themselves. Sacrificing their education & giving into these social & economic pressures is the easy way out, landing into multifarious issues ahead.

Mentors provide continuous guidance and coaching through video & telephone calls to the sponsored students.

Interested students learn a lot more of their educational & career choices from successful professionals. Mentors often become a lifelong friend for many.
