bastar silk dokra art sarees

Chhattisgarh boasts of numerous traditional art forms & costume designs, one of the more famous one is the Dokra Art on Bastar Silk. Dokra Artwork is traditionally hand embroidered or hand drawn on specially cultivated silk that is localized to the Bastar region.

Today, the lineage of such artists are facing complete decimation, challenged by the modern manufacturing & automated textile industry & the competition faced from large commercial enterprises is almost as deadly.

Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation is seeking assistance for these artisan families to sustain this heritage Dokra Art & train new artists in Dokra Art.
