Santhal Folklore – The Billy Goat
All the villagers started moving towards the jungle, looking for the billy goat. On the other hand, at the Sun down the tiger also returned to the den. While approaching the den, it just had a look at the hill top and got damn scared by the sight of the goat. Oh my God! What is that? Such a long beard on the face!
The Goat has also started shivering at the sight of the tiger. The more it shivers the beard and the horns are also dwindling in the air! The goat is shivering on the top of the hill, and the tiger is also sheet scared at the foothill near the cave.
Shattered in fear the tiger said, “My Lord, let me know what do you want here? It’s my den, Could you please vacate the place?”
The goat gathered all the courage and faked, “Well before I leave, will eat all the tigers and the bears of this jungle, and then will leave for another destination! Hope you have no doubt on this!”
Listening to this statement of the goat, the tiger started running away from the cave. The unbelievable run, run of the life time!
The bear suddenly noticed the tiger and asked, “Hello uncle, where are you rushing at this hour? What happened?”
“Won’t you believe, my nephew! There is a strange animal plundered my den! What a strange animal is that! Such a long beard, horns are like twisted spear.”
“What is the challenge? You just let him stay!”
“Well you listen to me, first. I just told him, my lord, where did you come from? What do you want? It’s night now, aren’t you feeling scared here?”
“You know, my boy, which was my mistake! I shouldn’t have told him that. Before I finished my words, that strange demon told me that he will eat me up, and will eat all the tigers and bears first and then would leave the jungle. That was so angry that it was shivering like a hell. I just ran away to save my skin. Just you want to stay alive run away, run away with me, my boy!”
“Well,” the bear said, “Uncle, you come with me, am sure he won’t be able to eat both of us, if we are together. Let’s go back and face him.”
The tiger admitted, “That is a good idea, my boy! Let’s do that! Let’s go back and face him together! Whatever it may be!”
