BUILDING COMMUNITY LIBRARIES
ONE BOOK AT A TIME
Education sets a strong foundation for the youth to grow & prosper in life. Over the next several years, Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation of Chhattisgarh will be building community libraries in various tribal colonies.
It is a mammoth task, from educating the tribal heads on the values of education to building the library facilities, getting the books and numerous supplies over to these facilities.
Our biggest hope is the aspiration we have seen in the eyes and heard in the voices of the tribal youth! They have a strong inclination to learn, to know & to grow.
Lack of good books, access to modern learning tools & misinformation within the communities on the challenges of a modern day life, has deterred several talented youth to pursue their education. Instead they drop off school to find cheap labor jobs with local contractors – derailing any possibilities they might have had of a successful career and a good life ahead!
We are currently running a Children’s Book Drive to collect books for our Balrampur Community Library for ethnic children in the community. This initiative is solely funded by our patrons & those of you who wish to bring education to children in tribal communities.

Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation’s Experience with Tribal Community Education
JSWF has been working with tribal children & tribal youth in various communities of Chhattisgarh from 2018 and have secured immense credibility & trust with the people in the region. The leaders of JSWF are looked upon by the tribal community heads as friends they could rely upon without hesitation, who always keep the needs of the community ahead of themselves.
Over the years, JSWF institution has coached & mentored numerous students from several communities and have realized that without the proper facilities to support continuous learning and use modern tools and gadgets, the educated youth will continue to fall behind.
