JSWF New Initiatives
1. Financial Scholarships for Tribal Students
Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation provides financial assistance to deserving students to pursue higher education in the hopes of creating a bright, educated, well-informed & conscientious generation of future citizens & leaders.
The program, aptly termed Educate, Sponsor & Mentor is a key initiative of the foundation that also aims to provide continuous guidance, mentoring & counseling to the merit candidates throughout their student life. Mentoring is provided by a large group of professionals from all over the world as a social service towards humanity.
▶ Become a mentor & help the young generation reach their life goals, read the program details on Socially This for JSWF.
2. Supplemental Education & Community Libraries for Tribal Students
Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation has taken up the daunting task of creating small, distributed, community libraries to encourage young & the old population to read books. This program will enable the tribal families access to great books, magazines & technologies to simply inspire them to read & gradually instill in them the desire to strive for a better education.

3. Heritage Research
Much has been lost in terms of the arts, music, literature, customs & rituals of the tribal communities. More are at stake from the inaccurate & often misleading information published without consent or ratification by various individuals & organizations for commercial gains.
Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation intends to pursue their own research into the tribal lifestyles, traditional customs & rituals, arts & handicrafts that have run through generations but are now being completely lost & various other aspects of their simplistic yet mindful living.

4. Assisting Tribal Heritage Artists
Tribal artists, those who have persisted various heritage art forms, have had to face stiff challenges from mass-producing commercial clothes manufacturers for ages. Lately, they are under even more threats, some of these unfaced earlier.
Loss of land, loss of livelihood, climate changes affecting the produce of high quality raw materials like silk-cocoons, and on top of that, the Covid-19 pandemic & its aftermath, are going to leave these tribal artisans with no options but to abandon their trade, leave their communities in search for cheap labor oriented livelihood in cities.
Arts & handwork that we have appreciated for generations, made skillfully by artists who have perfected the designs & art for generations are slowly eroding & soon will be completely lost in the name of materialism, commercialization & social-advancements.
