Beautiful India Travel Photography Famous Indian Landmarks
  • Beautiful India Travel Photography Famous Indian Landmarks

A small selection of 30 amazing travel pictures from across India showing the remarkable diversity in landscape, culture, architecture, people & religion.

India is beautiful, from Kerala in the South, to Kashmir & Ladakh in North, from Gujarat in the West to Meghalaya in the West, and I might add, everything in between. With 6 seasons, snow capped mountains in the north and surrounded by waters of Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean & the Arabian Sea, India is a photographers’ paradise throughout the year.

Adding to the Indian natural beauty are the diverse cultures and people who make it exciting for any travel photographer. Most find it difficult to comprehend the vastness of the land & her people. That is why history records that Steve McCurry traveled to India over 30 years & more than 80 times during his career in National Geographic.

Cartier Bresson spent his youth traveling throughout India photographing almost everything his eyes could capture! He photographed key figures like Mahatma Gandhi the day before he was assassinated & a lot of other Indian freedom fighters & national heroes.

Henri Cartier-Bresson traveled to Delhi to meet with one of the key players in India’s transition, the great leader Mahatma Gandhi. It would be one of Gandhi’s final meetings before the leader’s assassination at the hands of a Hindu nationalist on January 30.

The resulting photos of Gandhi’s last day of life and the events surrounding his funeral helped catapult Cartier-Bresson to international fame. The documentary traces back the photographer’s steps in India and investigate some of Cartier-Bresson’s favorite topics, such as Kathakali dance and the streets of Ahmedabad.
